Michael R. Tate, CPA, PFS

Michael Tate is the principal in charge of the Wealth Management Services offered through tpbs Capital Management. Michael earned his degree in Finance and Economics at Saint Mary's College of California. In conjunction with his many years of experience in tax planning and preparation, he counseled clients on their retirement needs, investment allocation, and many other factors related to their financial affairs. It was through this work that Michael realized that there had to be a solution where he could offer wealth enhancement plans precisely targeted to individuals' sophisticated needs and goals. At that time he developed the Personal Chief Financial Officer program to assist those clients with developing, implementing and maintaining a customized wealth management plan. Using a consultative approach, he is able to look at where they are in life and where they want to be, and then develop a plan to fill in the gaps.

In 2000, Michael earned the professional credential, Certified Public Accountant, and in 2005 he received the Personal Financial Specialist (PFS) designation awarded by the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants Specialization Accreditation Board to those CPAs who have demonstrated their competence and experience in providing tax, estate and financial planning services.

His investment philosophy is derived from his studies of Modern Portfolio Theory, focusing on building individual client portfolios that maximize profits per unit of investment risk. By utilizing "institution only" asset class mutual funds, Michael is able to implement proven investment strategies that are not usually accessible to individual investors.
